Lee has lived in Belize since 2001, when she moved to Caye Caulker. She has been giving back to her community from the very beginning. She currently is a volunteer art electives teacher with Ocean Academy, the island's first and only high school, she teaches several classes.
Lee is originally from Detroit, but left the metro Detroit area when her kids were finished school. After working in corporate America for 20 years, she decided to do the opposite of all her friends, and instead of buying a big mansion, she sold her modest home in the suburbs and moved to Central America. It was an experiment that worked.
